William Wegman
William Wegman was born in 1943 and received a BFA in painting from the Massachusetts College of Art in 1965 and an BFA in painting from the University of Illinois, Champagne-Urbana in 1967. By the early 70s, Wegman’s work was being exhibited in museums and galleries internationally. Wegman has created film and video works for Saturday Night Live, Nickelodeon and Sesame Street. Wegman has been commissioned to create images for a wide range of projects including banners for the Metropolitan Opera and covers for numerous publications including The New Yorker. William Wegman lives in New York and Maine where he continues to paint, draw, make videos and take photographs with his dogs. William Wegman was a Visiting Artist in Maine College of Art & Design’s MFA Program in the summer of 2013.
