Rachel Monegue is a photographer who works using strictly black and white film to create silver gelatin prints. She graduated from the Maine College of Art, with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography in the spring of 2019. Monegues current body of work is analyzing her life and relationship with her current partner after the traumatic loss of a previous one. She utilizes the diverse New England landscape, portraits as well as everyday domestic scenes to explore themes of love and death, grief and ecstasy, and overall fragility of the human condition. Monegue is interested in how these contradictory emotions culminate in her life, as well as her partnership, and unveil the drastically different histories and traumas each person carries into a relationship.
