Philip Brou

Philip Brou is an artist and educator based in Portland, Maine, where he serves as Program Chair of Foundation and Associate Professor of Foundation and Painting at MECA. For most of his life, Brou has made it a point to go running at least every other day. This year, partly in response to these tumultuous times, the artist started a new project in which he documents, through small ink drawings, each of his runs. These images record the weather conditions, time of day and -when seen in sequence- seasonal change of often overlookable locations momentarily encountered while running. These works combine the physical, metaphorical and meditative practices of running and drawing. They are a way of keeping time.
