Maya Amrich Kuvaja ’97

In my current work I paint detailed illustration of the birds and creatures of Maine that I observe in my world. My paintings are combined with a background of vintage paper ephemera collages collected from discarded materials, books, maps, newspapers, magazines. I reflect on human interaction with the natural world, my own memories and dreams. I grew up in the southern coastal Maine town of Saco, attended Maine College of Art and moved to the rural western Maine town of Bridgton. Here I create art in my little studio surrounded by woods, lakes and mountains. My work is exhibited in northern New England and collected internationally.
