Lesley MacVane SALT ’02

Lesley MacVane, SALT, photography 2002,a Maine native, currently lives in Falmouth. She considers herself a documentary portrait photographer. As a child, Lesley would spend hours looking at her grandmother’s old photo albums, full of black and white pictures of family and friends. Those long ago images stayed with her and portraits became her first love when finally picking up a camera of her own. While she continues to love capturing people’s faces, she has broadened her subject base by capturing chairs and pears and just about anything that might sit right with her eye. Abstract work was added during the pandemic and has added a new dimension to her work, which she finds exciting! Over the years, Lesley has been honored to have had two pieces in the Portland Museum of Art Biennial, a piece in the International Photography Competition at the Print Center in Philadelphia, pieces in the Maine Photography Show, inclusion in several issues of the Maine Art Journal, solo shows at the Lamarche Gallery at Bowdoin College and Lift360, many group shows as part of the Union of Maine Visual Artists, and in galleries in Maine and North Carolina.
