Educated in the field of Illustration at Philadelphia College of Art, I have been painting representational landscapes in pastels since the early 1980s and have exhibited my work in California, Pennsylvania, New York, Maine and France. Highlights in my professional career have included a month-long residency at YADDO, and a two-week residency at Acadia National Park. Currently, I create abstractions of the natural world and now use oils as the preferred medium. This medium allows for an exploratory give and take relationship in my surfaces, applying paint and scraping down layers. I still work representationally as well, and at times, paint through gestures and mark-making to connect the visible and invisible, and real and imagined worlds in nature.
