Joshua Ferry ’94
Joshua Ferry is a painter based in South Portland. He received his BFA from MECA&D and MFA from Rutgers University. During graduate school he worked as a studio assistant for Donald Sultan in New York. Joshua Ferry’s work has been exhibited at the Portland Museum of Art, Center for Maine Contemporary Art, University of Maine Museum of Art and many galleries throughout Maine as well as Colman Burke Gallery in New York. Ferry started his stripe paintings during the darkest days of winter in Maine and at the height of Covid in 2021. His aim was to make warm, optimistic paintings that possessed a strong sense of stability and structure. These elements were missing in his life and painting them helped him recenter.
