Joel Brown
I’m a Maine artist, originally from Turner, who’s lived in Portland for 35 years, and received a BA in Art from the University of Southern Maine in 1990. I’m married with one son, who’s 20 and currently studying art himself. I work primarily in photography, paper collage, and watercolor, although I enjoy many mediums and am currently working on some new block prints. For the last 11 years I’ve also worked as an independent contractor for Portland non-profit Side x Side, as a documentary photographer, capturing their art programs in local public schools. Nature and Portland are favorite inspirations. I’ve been walking around town with my camera for years, watching the city change with time and the seasons
