Isabel Catherine Kelley ’13
Based out of Windham, Maine, Isabel Catherine Kelley, has been practicing sculpture for several years. After receiving her BFA in Sculpture and Minor in Art History from Maine College of Art in 2013, Isabel has since showed pieces publicly throughout New England. Some of her works can be seen permanently placed on the Andre’s Institute of Art Sculpture Trail in Brookline, NH as well as along the Boothbay Sculpture Trail of Boothbay Harbor, ME. Isabel has also been involved with many sculpture symposia and will be heading to Otawara, Japan in summer of 2021 as a participant in the Nasunogahara International Sculpture Symposium.
Often her work serves the use of multiple practices but over several years has turned to a deep appreciation for granite sculpting. The evolution into stone carving practices archetypal themes, expanding on the driving forces of the human condition. Much of her work is figurative, with abstract alterations to physically form an impression of human gesture. Isabel’s work surveys the meaning of feeling reserved in mannerisms and environment, searching for insight into the symbolism of social processing and engagement.
