Hannah Donovan

My name is Hannah and I am a cyanotype artist living in South Portland. My work explores the return to nature and the growth that can occur there, celebrates the body, and showcases the wonderful shapes and textures of Maine flora. I use plants, hand-cut stencils, and the fickle Maine sun to print my cyanotypes on fabric, paper, and wood. The base material is brushed with a chemical mixture and left to dry in the dark. The design I create with plants and stencils is laid atop the base. Once the design is complete, the entire piece is exposed to the sun to create the final print. After about 15 minutes, the print can be washed, dried, and enjoyed!
