Grace Hager ’15, MFA ’23
Grace Hager (b.1993) is an interdisciplinary painter and ceramic sculptor. She received her Master of Fine Arts in 2023 and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting with a Minor in Art History in 2015 both from Maine College of Art & Design. Her work locates the natural world as a realm of possibility: a source of transformative encounters that generate awe, positioning the magical within the observable world. Continuing in a tradition of Romantic landscape painting, such experiences stand out as moments where empirical, fantastical, and emotional worlds begin to intermingle. Experiencing awe in the landscape, and in art, offers a solitary experience of connection that acts as a salve for loneliness. Grace currently lives and works in Portland, Maine.
