Dahlov Ipcar (1917-2017)
Born in Windsor, Vermont, Dahlov Ipcar grew up in New York City’s Greenwich Village to famous parents William and Marguerite Zorach, eventually moving to a small dairy farm in Georgetown, Maine, where she lived for the rest of her life. In 1939 she had her first solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art. Her works are now in the permanent collections of many important art institutions and she has written and illustrated thirty children’s books. In 2013, MECA awarded Ipcar with the Award for Leadership as a Visual Artist and the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Fine Arts.
