Cindy MacKay BFA ‘84

I am a painter, yoga practitioner / teacher and lover of life and nature. Nature is and has always been my greatest inspiration for color, light, movement & rhythm. Nature produces something new and interesting every day. As we move into this unprecedented time of climate change, upheaval, loss of species, loss of natural landscape; through clear cutting, building and our continual encroaching on natural habitat; my work becomes more relevant to me. My paintings ask the viewer to pause, remember, feel and sit with the beauty Mother Nature is offering to us daily. What can we learn from her? What will be lost if we continue to be unwilling to protect her? There is a spiritual connection with nature that informs us and asks us to pay attention. Through brush strokes and felt color sensations my hope is to invite the viewer to do just that.
