My installations, sculptures, and works on paper use diverse methods and a minimal aesthetic to explore the threshold between material and void, and question how the mechanics of perception and the boundaries of the empirical world affect our ability to imagine the vastness of empty space or the boundlessness of infinite space. “Parallax” is a series of works on paper that use both material and sensory thresholds to evoke a void space that is neither empty nor inert, and exists on both micro and macro scales. These pieces are made with gold leaf overlaid with intricate networks of punctured and embossed holes connected by thin graphite lines, creating images that shift between the quantum, the biological, and the cosmic.
