Katia Dermott ’22

Katia Dermott is a lens-based artist and writer. She received her BFA in photography from Maine College of Art & Design. Through photographing the personal, she explores land as family and body as place. Her work investigates what cannot be seen, focusing on environment, family, and self. Dermott has exhibited nationally at venues including the Institute of Contemporary Art in Portland, Maine; PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont; and A Space Gallery in Brooklyn, New York. Her work has been featured in publications including the Maine Magazine, One Twelve, the Too Tired Project, and has been collected by the Bates College Museum of Art. Dermott teaches at Maine Media College and writes for Lenscratch. She lives and works in Rockland, Maine.
