Sydney Berkeley ’22 of sydney bee pottery

My work, which is most often illustrative pottery utilizing bright colors, expresses the excitement and nostalgia from the idea of childhood. I love to incorporate happy and vibrant imagery in my work, whether that may be illustrations of bugs I loved as a kid or imaginative monsters and creatures I draw in my sketchbook. I wish for the viewer or user of my objects to step into this world of brightness with my work. One of my biggest drives is to bring others happiness and help them to feel comforted when the feeling of comfort is inaccessible. My practice, which is just as important to me as the objects I create through it, helps me to feel both grounded in the reality of my craft, but additionally can allow me to escape through my work into a colorful, carefree world and help others to do so, too.
