Kory Twaddle MFA ’06

I have a BFA in Art from the University of Oklahoma, where I majored in Painting and minored in Art History. Norman was an exceptional college experience where I was able to study with Artist Professors and professionals. I attended the Maine College of Art and moved to Portland, Maine, where I earned my MFA in Interdisciplinary Studio Art and Theory in 2006, studying painting, drawing, installation work, and experimental techniques. My thesis, Proprioceptive Biograms, was a look at wayfinding amongst various geographical locations and groups of people, and how humans and animals navigate. This was a groundbreaking period of discovery for me and has been the conceptual foundation of my work ever since. Since graduate school I have taught a variety of visual art and design courses at the college and university level, first in Riverside, California, before moving to Kansas City where I lived for eleven years, teaching art courses at regional colleges and as a Research Assistant at an art museum. I have continuously created and exhibited my work which traces my residences and most-used locations at every location I have been able to live and work. I have recently moved back to Southern California with my husband and two Siamese rescue cat sisters. I am currently creating art classes to teach for the City of Orange, and am enjoying getting situated here, and moving into my new home and studio here in Orange. I love the landscape, geography, and spirit of the area, especially the white light and lush vegetation.
