Cross stitch on aida cloth, applique, artist made frame, 16”x22”
Americana Values was made during the height of the pandemic and incorporates a close study of a master work in cross stitch, Clarissa Dyer’s 1820 sampler (found on the Daughters of the American Revolution website) and an image of the tent city at the Portland City Hall after the Preble Street Shelter was closed at the beginning of the pandemic. In Clarissa’s work she illustrated the world she saw around her. I chose to do the same.
