Sarah deGrandis ’07

S. Jane Craft is the work of fiber artist Sarah deGrandis. I am passionate about learning new crafts, and using modern, colorful takes on traditional techniques. My work features simple organic shapes, and more often than not, a bright color palette. All rugs are tufted at my home in coastal Southern Maine. I use a mix of rug wool, New Zealand wool, and whenever possible, thrifted rug wool that was previously used in Maine rug mills that have shut down. While I sometimes make pieces that are intended to hang on the wall, my favorite kind of art is functional. None of my work is precious and has been made for you to touch, walk, or play on.
