I have been a professional artist in Maine and beyond for many years. I can say that my approach to art, any form of art, is largely intuitive. This is certainly true of my drawings and collages. I set the formal limitations to what I am about to do, which are usually geometric, and then release myself in the format. I can go anywhere in it. Each step leads to the next. It’s mysterious and exciting. The results are often a surprise to me.
