Leslie Anderson

I feel blessed to live in Maine and painting its landscape fosters my connection to my adopted home. In summer, my subject is the Blue Hill Peninsula, where I paint en plein air in oils and watercolors. In winter, I work in my Portland winter studio from summer sketches and cell-phone snaps to capture moments that are the essence of summer Downeast. I also do portraits and still life from to maintain my skills in direct observation. Whether in- or out-of-doors, my artistic concerns are the same: light against dark, pattern and repetition, and vibrant color. Fun fact: I was MECAD’s first Director of Development back in the 1980s.
