Kate Katomski MFA ’02
I am a multi-media artist and educator. I maintain a private studio at The Bakery Studios and am a member of Peregrine Press in Portland, ME. For the past fifteen years my work has been inspired by abandoned industrial landscapes. My focus has been marble & granite quarries and recently New England textile mills. My practice includes research, photography, printmaking, sculpture and video. Prior to Covid, my work included pattern & color found in architectural stone & textiles. Lockdown forced me to work from the kitchen table. Segueing from the earlier work, I began sketching textiles and rugs in my interior space. Upon my return to the studio, a series of silkscreen prints were made from the drawings, then cut and woven together.
