Brian Killeen MAT ’19
Brian Killeen, born 1972 in St. Louis, MO, received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in illustration at the University of Kansas in 1995. He has been painting in Maine since 2008. Brian’s work captures the beauty of the outdoors in Maine, as well as the people, places, and things of everyday life. Brian works mainly in water soluble oils on an acrylic underpainting, on gessoed birch masonite panels or on canvas. He paints outdoors as the weather permits, and in the studio the rest of the year.
Brian’s studio work incorporates elements of his plein air work, imagination, drawing, and photos he takes while painting, hiking, or walking his dog. His current series has been based on MackWorth Island. Local exhibits of Brian’s recent work include the Yarmouth Art Festival (2024), MECA Collect Art Sale (2024), River Arts Gallery, Damariscotta, ME (2024 group shows), and the Chocolate Church Gallery, Bath, ME (2023 solo show)
