Renée Bouchard ’99
Renée Bouchard received her MFA from the Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2021, and her BFA from MECA in 1999 in painting with honors. She lives and works in Vermont and NYC with her eight year old and dog.
Bouchard’s paintings explore nature and the figure. Her recent abstract, representational paintings are journalistic, documenting clusters of daily life. Collaborative moments with her young child and non-traditional materials like children’s toys, grass and seeds weave together with memory and the present act of painting. “I am constantly exploring human security within the context of so-called ‘nature’ and aim towards a gesture of repair. I use color without prejudice and spend most of my practice interested in the unexpected color relationships.”
