Educated in the field of Illustration at Philadelphia College of Art, I have been painting representational landscapes in pastels since the early 1980s and have exhibited my work in California, Pennsylvania, New York, Maine and France. Highlights in my professional career have included a month-long residency at YADDO, and a two-week residency at Acadia National Park. My pastels have garnered accolades and have been published in magazine and journal articles, as well as a book “40 Maitres du Pastel”, published in Paris in 2018. Currently, concentrating in oils now, I make both abstractions of the natural world as well as representational atmospheric moods of light and space, as well as movement through mark-making and brushwork. The abstractions are equally about light and movement, often layered with applications of paint, scraping away, and reapplying paint.
