Elijah River Dion ’19
Elijah River Dion was born and raised in the urban areas of southern New Hampshire. Elijah received a Bachelor of Fine Art in Painting with Honors and minor degrees in Art History and Drawing from the Maine College of Art in 2019. Elijah’s work reflects his experiences; conjuring imagery of addiction, religion, and a world of reckless abandon, which he navigates through painting and philosophy. Elijah paints within the context of objective realism to situate this world in the didactic structure of absolute truth exhibited by the history painters of the French Academy, undermining this hierarchy by claiming the “profound boredom” found in moments of the in-between, of not-happening, as worthy of cultural elevation.
