Don Best ’81
Don Best is a wood craft artist who lives in Norway Maine. He’s best known for his playful, expressive animal carvings. His gallery / studio is at his home on Crockett Ridge Rd in Norway. He develops most of his designs from sketching ideas often from memory and sometimes with a little help from photos. He carves his work from bass wood in parts, then assembles, often wood burns details, and finally paints them. He works on multiple pieces at a time and brings them through his process. When it’s time to paint he might have a dozen pieces to finish. Don shows his work at various galleries along the Maine coast during the summer.
