Chip Barchilon MFA ’20
Chip Barchilon received their BA in Art History at Barnard College. Recent exhibitions include Sorry We Missed You at the Institute for Contemporary Art and The Constructed Self at New System Exhibitions, curated by Elyse Grams. In 2020, Barchilon graduated with their MFA in Studio Arts from MECA. Upcoming projects include OP HAND, an interactive work with Amy Stacey Curtis and an interdisciplinary book on fairy tales. Barchilon’s interdisciplinary practice promotes repair through storytelling. Ecologic embodiment and rhizomatic theory frame communication within dynamic networks that mimic rhizomatic structures. Barchilon seeks to re-imagine the canon of fairy tales with narratives of repair. Ethereal materialities, unclear objects, and visual tropes of fairy tales offer enchantment and inquiry in the same narrative.
