Senior clothing designer and artist poses at her work space in fiber arts studio

Betsy Scheintaub

Betsy Scheintaub is a fiber artist, garment designer, and educator. She has a BFA in Fiber Arts with a focus on weaving and several years experience working in costume production for theater and dance. As an independent designer, she has designed garments for production as well as a line of handbags and accessories under the label Bobbin. Betsy’s most recent works are explorations of color and pattern based on images gathered on daily walks in Portland’s Evergreen Cemetery. These works, stitched from Korean ramie and silk fabric, are “snapshot quilts”. The translucent quality of the fabric creates a unique stained glass effect when hung in front of a light source.
